Understanding your company’s How’s and Why’s is just as crucial as knowing the product itself.
During onboarding, we often get bombarded with information about the product: its origins, the reasons behind its creation, the founders, and the leadership team steering its growth. However, we also find ourselves asking questions like “How does my team operate?” and “Why do they choose this approach?” Another essential query might be “How does my company facilitate cross-functional information sharing?”
These questions often remain unanswered, unlike the detailed product knowledge we receive. As leaders, our priority should be to build trust with our new employees. By addressing the how and why of our operations from the get-go, we can strengthen that trust. But is this a common practice?
Leaders, how does your company tackle these questions during onboarding? If you don’t currently address them, could you easily provide clear answers? Is this a topic your leadership team has discussed or something you might consider adding to your next meeting’s agenda?
